Do you enjoy making plans?
Making vision boards with all the pictures and bucket lists?
Sometimes going overboard with the stationery?
Sounds like you might be a ‘planner-holic’ like me!
There’s just something about ticking off those things on my list that gives me a sense of accomplishment and being in control.
Then life happens and some of those lists just don’t get ticked off or those plans just don’t go the way we want them to. I don’t know about you but I didn’t have ‘Plan for Pandemic’ on my vision board! It’s scary and we can’t help but feel hopeless. Sometimes it can cause us to withdraw, to settle for whatever is available at the moment or to stop dreaming. Our minds can fill up with things like ‘Will I get to achieve anything?’ ‘This is a disaster! ‘God have you forgotten about me?’
This well known Bible verse has comforted me so much especially during these times
‘For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’ Jeremiah 29:11
Isn’t it incredible to know that Jesus has a PLAN?
He has gone before us and He is with us always.
He has plans to bless us, plans that will not fail, plans that had us in mind this whole time! He is for us.
He is our HOPE!
I remember when I was in high school and I was planning my ‘life goals to hit by 30’ and I was so determined to achieve them exactly how I had it on my vision board. I thought those dreams would be the highlights of my life.
As I turn 30 this month my ‘vision board life’ is not going quite as I expected.
I was supposed to be married, have my own business and the list goes on!
But God had other plans – better plans – and at the present I am happily single, live with awesome housemates, I love my job and the colleagues I work with, have visited places that I didn’t even dare put on my vision board and live in a completely different country to where I thought I would be with friends that have become family to me!
I am in awe of how good God has been and exceeding my dreams and turning them into my best life in Him!
I am looking forward to the incredible things God has in store for my life and I want to encourage you to do the same.
Let’s not limit God with time or with what we see around us or what we think is the best plan for our lives – instead let’s embrace the journey (lockdown and all!) and let’s dream even bigger and trust Jesus because He is not finished yet!
‘Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energises you.’ Ephesians 3:20
