Hope City has a heart to connect with the local community, and make a real difference. Project 180 is a way in which we do just that!
Project 180 has a vision to bring the community together to completely transform local spaces. Project 180 is made up of volunteers from Hope City church in Liverpool and City Hearts. Last summer we had great success in renovating the gardens at White Chapel’s Belvidere Family Centre, who provide emergency accommodation for homeless families in Merseyside. For our next project we will be transforming part of Unity Youth and Community centre in Toxteth, Liverpool in May/June 2019.
Unity is the only free to use youth club within a miles radius, opening its doors every year to hundreds of local young people in one of the poorest areas in Liverpool and most deprived in the UK. Many of the young people attending Unity Youth and community centre have difficult home lives. Out of the top 20 attendees, 13 come from families with drug or alcohol dependencies, 7 with immediate family members in prison or that have been to prison and 15 with parents on benefits. Unity provides a safe space for them to have fun, receive homework support and spend time with positive role models. In recent years the centre has been struggling for funding, therefore has not been able to do any of the desired renovation work.
We want to uplift their main room and transform it into a bright, warm & welcoming fun space!
We want to provide:
- New flooring
- Fresh paint on the walls
- An art mural
- New furniture such as chairs, sofas and tables
- New TV, rugs, cushions, bean bags for chill out area
- New computers for homework space
- New games equipment
- A new sign for outside
- And more!
We would love you to donate financially, gift specific items or volunteer your services if you are a tradesman to help us transform the space. If you would like to get involved we would love to hear from you! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more and be part of the next Project 180 transformation.
